Most people use a device which is called a washing machine to wash our clothes. Within the washing machine, you have an impeller, which is a component that allows for the effective cleaning of our clothes.
The impeller is a small fan-like rotor that rotates around. It pushes water and soap through the clothing to scrub out dirt and stains. Spinning punches the water hard inside the machine. This helps beat the clothes and raise dirt freie of them. This means your clothes keep getting cleaner than if they were simply sitting in water.
One upside to impeller washing machines, though, is that they tend to be gentler on clothes than certain others. Machines with agitators have a post in the center that can tug on clothes and "stretch" them. Impellers lack this, making them less likely to ruin delicate fabrics. That means you can wash your favorite sweaters or dresses without the fear of ruining them.
So, if you have one, the impeller can occasionally become clogged with lint or dirt, preventing it from spinning correctly. If your clothes aren’t coming clean or you hear funny noises, it may be that the impeller needs a cleaning. You can remove the impeller cover and wash that in warm water to clean it.
Both impeller and agitator machines clean clothes, but they do so in slightly different ways. Impeller machines tend to be gentler and take less water, while agitator machines are better at getting out stubborn stains. An impeller machine may be better if you have delicate clothes. For washing heavy-duty loads, an agitator machine is likely your best option.
Rinse often to keep your impeller in good shape. Give it a clean cycle with hot water and vinegar to help absorb and get rid of any nasties or smells. Look for wear or damage on the impeller and replace it if necessary. Your clothes will always be clean and fresh this way.
